my name is sylvia and i'm a blog-aholic. i love to blog. when i first started blogging almost 2 years ago, i didn't get much of anything done except my homework because i blogged so much. that was when a group of us met thru another online endeavor, which i'm purposely not naming (no glory there, ha!). i blogged the first thing when i got up in the morning, and it was the very last thing i did at nite.
on the weekends, we'd have blog parties. *lol* i'm laughing as i'm thinking about them. we'd do recipe exchanges, and have blog drinks while we typed. (oh man, what were we on?) we had this one particular "hang out" blog for people who didn't have their own personal blogs, or for those who didn't feel like "blog-hopping." she'd do her post, and it would generate oodles of conversation. those were the good 'ole blog days.
now, we're having good "new" blog days. (sorry, this is the best i could come up with) we have our own personal blogs set up now. i'm blogging with a few of the original bloggers i started out blogging with, but i've met so many new bloggers. isn't this world of blogging the best? you just click on someone's name, and it takes you into a whole new direction--a different part of the united states or another country--the blogger's world.
as much fun as blogging is, it can be a ministry also. people tend to think of ministry only as being in the pulpit, or going to the hospitals to pray for people, or going to the prisons to minister. however ministry extends far beyond those walls. many of us pray for one another, or ask for prayers for other people--that's ministry. we're admonished to pray for each other. the encouraging and inspiring words we leave on each others blogs is ministry. we're admonished to esteem others. the love we show one to another thru all of this is ministry. we're to love our neighbor as we love our self. so see, all of that, and we're still having fun.
i like that each blog is unique, displaying the blogger's character, personality, intellect, humor, life. some bloggers comment back to the ones' leaving comments, while others read the comments only. you can tell things about the blogger just thru their profiles, the posts they write, the pictures they share, the blog decor they have, and the links on their blogs.
i've gotten a little more disciplined with blogging now. i had to because i don't know of any blog rehabs.

I'm finding my self more and more addicted to blogging. I can literally spend all day(if the toddler lets me) reading and blogging. You're right, I may need a blog rehab soon, too!
Oh, and I've posted a new one about my dad, today. It's a record, two posts in one day! - At March 12, 2007 8:24 PM, HeiressChild said...

it connects me to so many people, some i've met, and some i'll be meeting this year. but even for those i may never meet in person, getting to know them thru blogging has been great.
thanx for letting me know about your new post. i'll check it out. - At March 12, 2007 8:39 PM, Josie said...

Sylvia, I opened this in my office at work, and everyone came running in and started dancing... hah! I love it! I have to say, it was fun to hear (and see) him do this in person. He's too cute for words.
I agree the blogging world is a real community, just like the "real" community. And the personalities of the various bloggers definitely do come through. And each blogger is so multi-faceted.
I remember the online endeavour where we all met a couple of years ago. Do you remember DreamWeaver?
Lord-luv-a-duck!
It was fun, and it introduced me to a whole new world. It's fun reading about other people's lives, but the really fun part is to find out that no matter where we live, we are all basically the same. That is the real joy of blogging. We're all the same!
Cheers,

I will agree that blogging is addicting for sure.
I read the blogs first thing in the morning and when I get home from work. Now I don't leave comments very much. But I do read along.
Today was a fantastic day off. Ran errands this morning, bought a new coffee pot. Then my sweetie called and we headed off to the beach. Then out to dinner at Bubba Gumps Shrimp. Yummy.
As far as blogs having their own personality. Wow. That scares me. Mine is boring compared to most. No pictures, etc.
Have an awesome night.

thanx greeneyes, you said it all--"wanna, need, gotta know what everyone is saying/writing." that's it in a nutshell.
carol, your blog isn't boring. it represents you because we know you lead that exciting travel life, and don't spend a lot of time at your computer. plus you do a lot of personal emails and send photos that way.
sweetie, beach, dinner--sounds like you had a good day.
alpha dude thank you always for your kind comments. i was praying i hadn't offended you. i'm looking forward to reading more of your blogposts. - At March 13, 2007 2:19 AM, Ellie said...

I agree. Especially about the personality part. There is so much revealed in words, in color, in music choices, in every little thing on a blog. It is really interesting. I am concerned about really being addicted to blogging. If it takes away from my real life, it isn't really good either. But it is so much fun! :)

hi ellie, thanx, i forgot about people's music on the blogs. i choose music according to my mood or blog topic. i really was concerned when i first started blogging, but i have a handle on it now. it has actually become a part of my real life, but then again, it's just me here. have a great day today!

lol. Great post. 'blogger rehab' too funny :) I think if I was a little more creative and had a little more time I can see how I could be addicted to blogging. I blog mostly about my son and post pictures. It started for my hubby's family who are across country but they don't really look at it. It has gradually become a place where I can express myself, and has only been just recently when I started to journal. Some people have such eventful lives and fun things to post about! I know what you mean, it really does become part of real life. Like youre new blinkie: blog-aholic ;) I usually blog first thing in the morning and again after Jacob is in bed.

It is great to be able to reach out to other with my disease, and talk and to here from people who do not have it comment. I have learned so much from everybody commenting. The blog world is as small or as large as we make it.

hi there!! my name's ingrid! you may not know me but i've been reading your blog for sometime now (got the link through ellie's The Cedar Chest). i just thought it was inappropriate for me to post a comment because i seem to be a stranger. anyways, i just want to congratulate you for the wink you got this weekend. there's no one else more deserving than you. you write from the heart & i just love reading your posts. i like your blog, it's very interesting. i've already linked your blog to mine so you'll just be a click away from me, hope it's okay with you. if not, pls. do let me know so i can take off the link. my apologies, then!

hi again :) I just wanted to thank you comment you left on Jacob's blog. I just noticed it. (I really should start looking a little more closely) lol It was very encouraging. I can't believe Jacob is already a pre-schooler. You are so right, even when he is grown with his own family he will still be my baby :)
Sounds like you had a really nice visit with your grandchildren. Children can warm up to others' very quickly. I am sure they are or soon will be asking to see grammie again (or whatever they call you ;) - At March 15, 2007 10:32 AM, Mustafa Şenalp said...

i was really looking at your sign, "the best things in life aren't things" last week because it reminded me of a previous post i did. so true too. the link is fine; i appreciate it, and i'm going to do the same here, if that's ok. see you around the blogs!
