Transitioning--Shutting Down & Moving On
Monday, November 24, 2008
well, i don't know about the other hundreds of thousands of Barack Obama supporters, but for me, by evening the day after the elections, it was back to my life as usual. i wish i could have stayed on cloud 99 a little longer, but my chef didn't show up, so i had to fix my own food; my maid didn't show up, so i had to wash my own dishes; my chauffeur wasn't able to pick me up the next morning, so i had to get to the grocery store on my own...and life goes on.
my online class has ended, and i am sooooo glad. this class wasn't a part of my regular curriculum, and it completely consumed my time, which is why i never do online classes. even though my class has ended, i still have some course lessons to do, though it's on my own time, and i have a few months to complete them. there were some areas i needed strengthening in, and the info from these course lessons will do that. six months is plenty of time to finish up, but i also have a course thru the SBA to do, and still have to finish up my last 3 classes for my degree. i'm in the process of packing to move in late winter/early spring, in addition to my other every-day life duties, so i have to divvy up my time wisely.
at the beginning of 2008, i changed my blog address to "the road to prosperity" and the name to "a new journey." little did i know at the time just how "prosperous" and "new" my journey would become. this year has taken me in new directions, doing new things, learning new things, meeting new people, opening new awarenesses. president-elect Barack Obama isn't the only one transitioning; so am i.
i've been feeling this for a while now, and i believe my time on my blog has come to an end. i've been blogging since august 2005, and have had over 11,000 hits on my blog, although some were readers and not commenters. my blog has run its course, and it's time for me to move on. i've met a lot of wonderful people thru blogging, some of whom i'm sure i'll always stay in touch with.
even though my blog is shutting down here, i'll still visit some of your blogs from time-to-time. i've written posts in the past about blogging and how much it's meant to me. thank you for the friendships, the comments, the encouragement, the inspiration. it's been real!

Really sorry you're leaving, but may your life unfold as it should -- and that is in very good ways.

even though we haven't met in person, but strangely, to me, it feels like i've known you forever or you're somewhat like an old friend that's just always there even though you haven't kept touch with them in a while. today, i felt sad while reading this post. i'm sad that you're saying goodbye to blogging. i feel that way sometimes, too, i don't have much time to blog, but during times of frustration, my blog is the first thing that comes to mind where i can just vent out and speak my mind out, without anyone sssshhhhhhing me.
i wanted to ask you to just stick around and just keep your blog open. just visit it when you feel like it and that it shouldn't put pressure on you that you should update regularly. but you gotta do what you gotta to do! i wish you well, my friend. may you'll always be blessed with all things good.
take care and keep in touch. i will send you privately you my e-mail information, just in case it may come in handy.

Aw come on Sylvia, do not stop your blogging or you will break the hearts of so many people. You have been a regular fixture of bloglandia and things will not be the same without you. Please, please, please reconsider your decision. We await with bated breath your decision. Thanks for the post. God bless you always my friend.

Ah! The old "I'm giving it a rest" shpeel, eh?
I'm not buying it, Sylv. This has becoming too deeply ingrained in your heart to let it ago. God has blessed with you with too much of an ability to express yourself; and to bless others in the process.
All that said, we'll go 'head and allow you a hiatus. But if your hiatus starts to get a little too extended, we may have to launch a rally to your place, break down your door, and physically force you to blog again. Admittedly, it'll be hard to organize a new "Sylvia must post" party every other day. But I think it'll be doable.
Don't force our hand. :) - At December 23, 2008 1:39 AM, Pia said...
